Determinism in dynamic geometry, by its search for internal coherence, means that figures always show the present time and cannot contain any history of manipulations by a user. However one may wish, for dynamic illustrations, to keep a trace of these manipulations.
Let us consider the archetypical example of a cursor that would retain the minimum position of a point M on a line when it is handled.
Such a point Min cannot remain at its minimum position in a completely deterministic situation, but may do so if this point can be defined recursively.
